Scallops Cooked on the Fire

Beach Cooking: Scallops cooked on the fire by Beachhutcook

Cooking and eating outside is crazy, silly but always fun and makes a meal into a feast.  The food doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated and in fact easier the better for the cook and guests alike because the more time doing the eating, chatting and laughing; the more time everyone is happy.  Who wants a frazzled unhappy cook at the party?  No one. Fish Tacos Cooked on the Fire Pit

Beachhutcook's Fish Tacos

When I cook fish at home the smell can linger for a while and there’s nothing more endearing that one of your children announcing “what is that smell?!” the moment they walk through the front door.  I love you too. (more…)

Birthday Campfire Curry on the Beach

For my birthday, I wanted a whole day at the beach hut: breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I didn’t mind cooking but I wanted a campfire dinner.  That’s what I requested when my family asked me.  I know, feeding a crowd on my birthday, crazy hey?  Well not for me, I find it relaxing and I love feeding people and if you throw in an open fire then I’m complete. I…

Sainsburys Article: Mackerel on Sourdough Bread with Rhubarb Sauce

Beachhutcook's Mackerel with Rhubarb Sauce

Chorizo and Hummus rolls by beachhutcook

We've been busy making Summer holiday plans, searching for new places to camp and places to visit in London.  Some suggestions might happen…

Crab Linguine

Crab Linguine at the beach hut by beachhutcook

Weekends are for relaxing, spending time with family and friends, perhaps doing the odd job on the house/garden but mostly for taking a pause.  That pause can be over good food.   And that good food can be anything from fancy to simple as long as it's something you like, something that makes you feel special.   (more…)

My name is Elinor Hill, aka "Beach Hut Cook". I am lucky enough to live by the sea, and I spend a ridiculous amount of time there in our beach hut. I love cooking simple and tasty food for my family, often down the hut or carefully transported to it. There is nothing better than a feast by the sea with the odd cocktail or two thrown in. For me: it’s as good as it gets.
