- Author: Elinor Hill aka Beach Hut Cook -

I am lucky enough to have a beach hut and I spend a ridiculous amount of time there. I love cooking simple, tasty food for my family often down the hut or carefully transported to it. There is nothing better than a feast by the sea with the odd cocktail or two thrown in. For me: it’s as good as it gets.

Best Beach Lunch Part Two

Best Beach Lunch Part Two by Beachhutcook

This is the second part of our beach lunch with friends.  As mentioned before, we invited some good friends to our beach hut for the day and all of our children, now teens were busy doing other things leaving just us grown-ups to enjoy beach hut life.  We chatted and chatted, laughed and giggled but mostly we missed our teens.  Happy they are doing fun things, teenage things but we…

Ultra Hot Chocolate

Ultra Hot Chocolate on the beach by Beachhutcook

Our youngest teen took part in the ASL Ice Bucket Challenge but chose a cancer charity to donate to instead of ASL; mainly because we lost my Mum to cancer and my sister has leukemia.  My sister continues to work full time, has three kids on her own and battles on regardless of having an incurable illness.  I think she’s rather brilliant but she will be really big-sister-cross with me for…

How to Barbecue in the Rain – Feeding Steak for a Crowd

Beachhutcook shows How to Barbecue in the Rain - Feeding Steak for a Crowd

Party at the beach hut planned, big crowd coming and I opted to cook steak on a barbecue.  Told everyone.  Everyone prepared.  Everyone looking forward to it.  What I didn’t plan for was the weather.  Turning chilly with the threat of rain.  Blast. We all made the decision it would be at ours which although only a short walk from the beach hut, would make it easier for us all…

Fish Cooked in Newspaper on the Beach

Beachhutcook Cooking Fish in Newspaper on the Beach

Cooking outside as the sunsets is a great summer treat.  As the evenings are still light and the remaining heat of the day lingers, catch the last of the sun with those you love over a glass of something cold. This unusual way of cooking fish causes a stir but you can be rest assured knowing that no bits of fish will get lost in the coals or gets stuck…

Jug Cocktails for a Party

Jug Cocktails for a Party by Beachhutcook

I was asked to provide cocktail recipes for Lime Venue Portfolio who will help you find the perfect meeting, party or conference venue in unique and unusual locations.  Who wouldn’t want to go to a Christmas party at the London Science Museum, or an exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery or a wedding reception at Grove House, London? I love a cocktail or two and if I’m planning a drinks party or…

Vintage Afternoon Tea on the Beach

Beachhutcook's Vintage Afternoon Tea on the Beach

Summer is all about school fetes, cricket matches and days out to the beach, so wherever you pitch up this easy afternoon tea will hit the spot.  A selection of sandwiches served with a coffee cup-sized serving of soup on the side.  Afterwards serve scones, clotted cream and jams with a side of lusciously rich Lemon Possett and I’ve got a feeling you will feel refreshed and deliciously stated all…
